Not Even A DVD for The Secret Circle?

Fate has taken a turn for the cruel for the fans of The Secret Circle. Warner Brothers has announced that they will not be opting for a Season 1 DVD set. The episodes can still be downloaded on iTunes (and *cough* isohunt), but this is an insult even Firefly fans didn’t have to suffer. With the Geek lobby larger, powerful, and more organized, it sounds TV execs have made teenage YA fans the new marginalized group du jour.

Jennifer Spence Interview on VanCity Buzz

VanCity Buzz haas posted an interview with the star of Continuum, Jennifer Spence. She talks about some of the challenges shooting the Showcase series and some of her upcoming feature film projects:

Jen: A fun little piece of trivia is we shot outside the CBC building and it doubled as one of the giant corporations in the city. We created a tent ”occupy” city and had a crowd of protestors rioting – it looked like the real deal!

You can check out the rest of the interview here.

One fan donates $5,100 to Save “The Secret Circle”

The Make-a-Wish drive to save  The Secret Circle is making some impressive headway with $7,500 donated so far. $5,100 of that take was generated by a single donor! One of the show’s executive producers, Andrew Miller, was moved by this donation to set up a charity auction himself. The series certainly has a lot of staying power for such a short run. Maybe it’s destined to be the fantasy genre’s version of Firefly.

Behold! The Many things Based on BattleStar Galactica

If you feel like your life needs a little more Battlestar Galactica in it, the internet has provided you with more options than ever.

First, there’s this 12-inch scale replica of the eponymous starship modeled by PSEUDOLO. It probably doesn’t come with that sweet paint job, but apparently it’s a really well-built kit.

You can also carry around your data in this USB flash drive from Anovos Productions.

Anovos is also producing these double tank tops, which admittedly made no sense to me in the series.

The Arrow Trailer Released and is Surprisingly Awesome

The CW has released the first trailer for The Arrow, and show looks like an awesome way to spend a school night. Many people were afraid that just because the Green Arrow was a lesser known superhero that the CW was just cashing in. It turns out that in this economy, nobody can afford to not think things through in television

Real Housewives of Vancouver Encroaches on the BC Film Industry

I thought had heard the last of Vancouver’s foray into the realm of gossip porn, but alas it was not to be. An article from canada.com is championing the series for giving the BC film industry a new lease on life as productions move to Toronto and Australia. To top it off, we might be getting our own version of the Bachelor. So depressing. Is this what everyone going through VFS and Capilano right now is dying to produce? Are they spending two years and 5 figures learning how to create imaginary creatures who can act an emote just so they can edit together a bunch of harpies who can do neither?

I will say this about the Real Housewives: That show makes Vancouver look frakking gorgeous. If we had more shows making good use of those helicopter shots of the Sea to Sky, who’s to say we wouldn’t see more scripted television?

SyFy’s Sanctuary Ends with Season 4

SyFy had to make some difficult choices this season, and one of those was the cancellation of Amanda Tapping’s Sanctuary. The show will not air any new episodes past its 13 episode run that ended last december. Syfy will be replacing the show with their new “metaseries”, Defiance. Fortunately Tapping and crew won’t stay on the sidelines for long as the Canadian version of Primeval begins production this year.

The Secret Circle Searches for a New Network

Even though the CW was pretty final in its cancellation of The Secret Circle, the show’s fans and producers hope to find the show a new home on a different network. ABC family has been named as a prime candidate, as well as Arrested Development‘s saviour Netflix. However, fans have started a Make-a-Wish to Save-a-Witch campaign to raise $20,000 for the Make-a-wish foundation and to gain the attention of MTV, where they believe the show would fit in perfectly with Teen Wolf. At least Make-a-Wish is a better idea than taking out an ad in Variety.
