Art History Featuring the Ladies of Battlestar Galactica

BoomerklimtSixlicht

Megan Lara has drawn up Starbuck, Laura Roslin, Six, and Boomer in the style of Modern Painters such as Klimt and Lichtenstein. If Ferris Bueller’s Day Off taught us anything, is that you can only understand paintings like these through intense, neurotic staring contests. That’s why they are available for sale as a series from Quantum Mechanix. Unfortunately, the Lichtenstein Six is only available as a San Diego Comic-con exclusive!

Cylon Raider Papercraft

Follow the adventures of Paul Mason as he embarks on a 13-hour journey from simple printer paper to cybernetic terror from beyond the stars. This papercraft Cylon Raider was a lot of work, but trust me, the results are bad-ass. You can find the pattern and full footage here.

Behold! The Many things Based on BattleStar Galactica

If you feel like your life needs a little more Battlestar Galactica in it, the internet has provided you with more options than ever.

First, there’s this 12-inch scale replica of the eponymous starship modeled by PSEUDOLO. It probably doesn’t come with that sweet paint job, but apparently it’s a really well-built kit.

You can also carry around your data in this USB flash drive from Anovos Productions.

Anovos is also producing these double tank tops, which admittedly made no sense to me in the series.

The Kids’ Battlestar Galactica Viper Simulator Flies At Last!

http://youtu.be/YJsRdrN62wA

Remember that Battlestar Galactica Viper simulator being built by some highschool students a couple of months ago? Well, they brought the thing to Maker Faire, and it works! It does 360 degrees of pitch, yaw, and roll! There wasn’t any time to modify the simulator software so they could take that sucker out for a spin over New Caprica, but it’s here, it works, and it’s awesome!

Battlestar Galactica Cupcake Toppers

Picture this: Your interstellar civilization has been wiped out, you’re 10,000 light years from home, and your being hunted down by a race of passive-agressive cyborg supermodels. You better believe you’ll need some good chocolate to get through this one. These Battlestar Galactica-themed cupcake toppers were made by justJENN using chocolate dipped oreos and edible paper. The cupcakes were later consumed in an epic themed birthday party. All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again. So say we all.

Battlestar Galactica Needs a LEGO set

BattlestarLego2

Once again someone has used the medium of lego to create some thing nerdy, epic and all around awe-inspiring. Garry King has made a hobby of building huge lego models of the Battlestar Galactica series. He’s done BaseStars, Battlestars, and even the Orion spaceport from the original 1978 series. This Battlestar Galactica from the original series weighs 15 kilograms and consists of 10261 pieces! You can find more of King’s creations Here and Here

Update: ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’ to be a Web Series

In a move that has the internet aghast yet unsurprised, Syfy has banished Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome from its colony in the cable universe and relegated it to being a web series. This comes on the heels of a trailer that has set the nerdverse ablaze with enough excitement to buy 2 Blu-ray sets of season 1 of this never-to-air TV series. This may be due to the lack of ratings success of Caprica, but come on, what does Syfy expect? Caprica was about people building robots who are sad ‘n’ stuff. Blood and Chrome is about Vipers, Cylons, spaceships, explosions, and, well, Blood and Chrome. That’s why we watched Battlestar in the first place! Part of me thinks that there may be an unintentional method to this madness. Maybe this will be a show that will allow us to make a clean break from the bonds of the cable TV schedule, but I can’t expect that kind of intellect from people who put wrestling on a Science Fiction channel.

A Real-life Battlestar Galactica Viper Built in the Bay Area

These 5 highschool students have started a Kickstarter project to build a full scale Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper Simulator. So far hey’ve taken the cockpit of a Piper airplane and strapped it to a gyroscopic steel frame. They plan to add  LCD screens, and electronic controls to make the full complete experience. Honestly, there would be a lot more arcades today if there were more people like these kids working on them.
